The Nord-Trøndelag Health Study (The HUNT Study) is one of the largest and most comprehensive health studies performed. It is a unique database of personal and family medical histories collected during four consecutive studies every decade since the mid 80-ies. The fundamental policy is to earn and maintain the confidence of the population we work in and with. This has resulted in extraordinarily high participation rates, ranging between 50% to over 88%. There is a high-level of trust and an enthusiastic public and political support for HUNT and this has created a good basis for further health surveys in the county and an excellent research environment.
